"The Night before Christmas" - 1989

Hi Kiddos & Hubby,

How are you guys doing?

Well, the big news around the Greene household is that we can't find our remote. We had it Saturday morning, but then it disappeared. We checked the wash, the couch, and we still can't find it. Luckily, the TIVO can do most of the things we needed the remote to do! Aren't you sad for us?

Did any of you watch the Republican debate last night? Well, one of my library aides got his question from YouTube asked. His question was one of 5,000 submitted to YouTube. He was surprised one of his question was asked, because he said it was the worst of all the 5 questions he submitted. He said he has been getting "hate" mail and remarks all day long online. I told him to ignore all that and just be excited that one of his questions was chosen to be broadcast nationally and probably internationally. Leroy is on newspaper staff, and he likes controversy....Well, he got it. His question was about the confederate flag.

Jen, I mailed your two pillowcases today. And, Jim, I mailed your jacket and shirt. When you dry clean your shirt, you need to point out the blood to the dry cleaner so they can get it off. Sorry, John, no package with 'old' stuff in it.

So, are you all ready for Christmas? Here is another picture to keep you in the mood!
Love you guys - Jen, Coby, Ben, Johnny, Danielle, and Jimmy, and of course, you John, Sr.

If

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to share this poem with you. I memorized it when I was a young girl - I think to impress your grandfather. He has always LOVED this poem. He has said it is a poem to live by. I agree. So, I thought I would pass it on to you.

IF

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

--Rudyard Kipling

Get in the mood for Christmas-1988

Hi Everyone,
I want to welcome Ben to my BLOG! He has accepted the invitation to be included! Well, actually, he asked if he could be added to my list. I was totally flattered since NO ONE has ever asked to be added to my blog, so I said, "Sure." So, welcome Ben. Glad to have you.
Jimmy left this morning to go back to Boston. Jennifer and Coby just left. They both left sick (Jen and Coby.) Their plan was to leave around 9:00 a.m. this morning, but they ended up leaving at 4:00 p.m., so they will have a long night ahead of them.
I enjoyed Thanksgiving, but I missed Johnny and Danielle not being there, but as Johnny reminded me, he will be home for over a week at Christmas.
Not much to say in this blog, but I want to share the next "Get in the mood for Christmas" photo.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!

Hi Everyone,
John and Danielle have a cute apartment all decorated for Christmas. I wanted to post the pictures here, but for some reason, I can't do it tonight. I will try later. The fireplace picture makes their apartment look like an elegant home. Here's a picture from 1985 (Jen: 3 - almost 4; Johnny - 1 1/2.) Sorry Jimmy, you aren't in the picture - you were in my tummy during this Christmas. Jen - I will be waiting for your pictures. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving tomorrow. I am NOT going to eat any desserts, hopefully.Have a good Thanksgiving everyone.

Weird!

Hi Everyone,
Dad and I had a great weekend seeing Jennifer, Coby, Johnny, and Danielle! We really enjoyed the craft fair and party we went to in Lubbock. And, the Sweet Tomato was the best ever! I loved the chili. We saw the newlyweds apartment. It comfy and homey and not much to clean. Enjoy it now kids.
Since this blog is within family, I wanted to tell you that sometimes I have been getting cramps in my toes and feet. Sunday night, my right foot was awesome. It was cramping, contorting, and my toes were wiggling all by themselves. So, being the photographer that I am. I took some pictures of my foot on my digital, and you know
what that means?I am going to share one of them with you!
Love,
Mom

Update: Santa is still coming!

The question was asked, "What about Santa presents?"

Santa presents will be on December 24th in the morning---since we are getting our Christmas PJ's on the evening of the 23rd, we will still have them on when we open presents.

The thing to remember is - we are doing everything we have always done - just not in the same order this year! It will be fine. The reason we are doing it this way this year is so Jennifer & Coby can leave early Christmas morning to get to Coby's family Christmas this year, plus this frees up John and Danielle to be with Matthew and Gracie when they open their Santa presents Christmas morning.

So, Santa is still coming. Never fear!

I'm 53!

Hi All!

Well today I am 53! Can you believe it? Grandmother says my birthday is really November 6th and that they made a mistake on my birth certificate. So, I really don't know when my real birthday is, but I will go with the 5th.

Today was a good day. I heard from all my kids. I heard from my mom and dad, and I heard from both of my brothers. What could be better than that? I got a deluxe Minnie Pearle (library action figure), some nice "G" coasters, a candle, a photo book, a red shirt, some nice cream and soap from William Sonoma. a check to buy a Panera gift card, some "library scarves", and a nice Mona Lisa shirt!!!!

Well, Thanks for the birthday wishes.

I love all of you.

Privacy

Hi Guys,

I wanted to make my blog private (just to you guys), but I typed in "Patti Londa Greene" in Google, and the whole world could see my blog. That was unacceptable to me at this time. Not that I have anything to hide, but I just want a private blog for the family. So, let me know if you can see my blog now. I don't know if when I selected my blog to privacy, that I cut you guys out. So, if you are reading this, that is a good sign, but let me know. You can respond to my blogs by clicking on the comments button at the end of the blog.

Have a great day today. Get some rest if possible.

My blog - Our weekend!

Hey Guys,

I have been messing around with my blog tonight, but I didn't get vey far. I have some questions that I don't know who to ask, except maybe you Jen! How do I add pictures to my blog from My Computer or from Shutterfly or from my camera's removable file? Also, I am still trying to figure out how to add to my books read list and the other lists I have created. If any of you have any ideas, let me know. I will figure it out if I keep working on it over the next few weeks.

Here is dad and I's schedule for the weekend.

1. I want to wrap Christmas presents in the morning, and then take a nap after lunch.

2. We are going to Gay and Doug Picker's house for dinner tomorrow night. We need to be there at 5:00 p.m. I bought her a little "hostess" gift. Whenever you are invited to someone's house for dinner, you should bring a little something, i.e. wine, chocolates. I am bringing some shrimp and cocktail sauce for the appetizer too.

3. We need to figure out how to get the headboard on Johnny's bed to be secure tomorrow.

4. Church on Sunday.

5. Eating dinner at Grandmother and Grandfather's house on Sunday.

6. In-between all that I want to work on the grant I am trying to get.

Dad told me Jimmy sprained his ankle or leg and is on crutches, but I haven't heard that officially from Jim yet? Call me Jimmy. Hope you are okay. Did you go to a doctor?

I have a list of possible Christmas ideas? Do you want me to post them on the refrigerator when you come home for Thanksgiving or not...this would be my wish list?

Not much else here. Oh, Patrick Hale is getting married tomorrow in Galveston, but we aren't going to the wedding.

Dad went to the dermatologist and had some moles frozen off today. The one mole I thought might be cancerous wasn't. I went to Health South today for a yearly checkup.

Well, have a good weekend guys.
Love,
Mom

Family

Hi JJJ&J,
Well, I am entering the 21st Century. I started a blog. This is my first post, and I haven't read all the ins and outs of this blog yet, so bear with me. I will get it going soon, if I don't switch to del.ic.ious. The reason I say I might switch is because a lot of librarians are on the del.ic.ious blog. Jennifer told me about her blog, so I thought I would try one.
